PFBD General - FAQs

What does PFBD Stand for?

PFBD stands for Powerlifting Federation Brunei Darussalam.

It is a recognised sports federation in Brunei Darussalam and is the only powerlifting body to be affiliated with the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF). With affiliation to the IPF, this means that the PFBD will be a drug-tested Powerlifting organisation, following the WADA guidelines.

What is Powerlifting?

Powerlifting is a strength sport which involves three disciplines: Squat, Bench and Deadlift.

In competitions, athletes have three attempts for each discipline, totaling to nine attempts. In which, the highest weight successfully lifted for each discipline is added up to form the athlete’s total and is then used along with their bodyweight to calculate their DoTS points.

Are there any dedicated powerlifting gyms in Brunei?

Unfortunately, there are no specific dedicated powerlifting gyms in Brunei, with the only one that closed down during the first lockdown last year known as Brusthetics Base.

However, there are a few gyms that can cater to your powerlifting goals such as, Ironstreet, Iron Strong Lift, Boss Gym, Dynamics, Tru Fitness, 673 Jerudong in Bandar, and Base, Mayhem, Vertics and Insani in KB/Seria area. We have also affiliated with some of these and PFBD members are entitled to special rates shown here.

Are there any available PFBD merchandise?

Currently, there is no available merchandise line for PFBD, but rest assured that this is in the plans in the near future for the federation.
